Alaska Destinations
Juneau: Alaska's capital, Juneau is the only state capital not accessible by road. While that's interesting, Juneau's real attraction is her plethora of excursions available to visitors. Whale watching, fishing, hiking, kayaking, flightseeing, Mendenhall glacier and shopping will fill up any amount of time you have in Juneau. We most highly recommend the whale watching.
The Mount Roberts Tramway is a good bet for $25.00. You get a great view from the top, there is a wonderful hike up there, a great gift shop, pretty good restaurant and almost always some local native artist selling their beautiful work.
Half day fishing trips out of Juneau can be the trip of a lifetime for some fishermen as you usually don't have to go far to find whichever species of salmon is running when you are there.
