Alaska Destinations
Ketchikan: Gateway to Alaska, Ketchikan is a wonderful first or last port on most Alaska cruises. Start your visit with a tour of the Historic Creek Street area and downtown Ketchikan. For a sense of the history, try Dolly’s House Museum, the Tongass Historical Museum, the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center and the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show. The nearby Deer Mountain Tribal Hatchery and Eagle Center, and Totem Heritage Center highlight the native cultural influences and traditions. Saxman Village or Totem Bight State Park will show you Ketchikan’s world famous collection of totem poles. Several hiking trails at the Ward Lake Recreation Area offer a wonderful relaxed opportunity to see the land up close or opt for a guided walk through the Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary. Alaska Canopy Adventures features an exciting “zip line” experience.
Misty Fiords National Monument is accessible by flight or boat, and is one of those places that will leave you forever changed. After mid-July, Neets Bay bear viewing areas are available and can give you an experience that most people only dream about. We love Ketchikan!
