Alaska Destinations

Seward:  This town of 2500 or so is nestled between Mount Marathon (where they race to the top and back every July 4th) and beautiful Resurrection Bay.  It's one our favorite places in the world!  Fishing, hiking, dog sled rides and, saving the best for last, the incredible Kenai Fjords National Park are all found in Seward.

To Alaskans Seward first comes to mind as the home of the grand daddy of all fishing derbies, "The Seward Silver Salmon Derby" held each year in August, or as mentioned, the Mount Marathon run each year on July 4th weekend.

Kenai Fjords National Park is what most visitors to Seward go home remembering, and rightfully so!  This is the Denali Park of the sea.  Again, we have done the Kenai Fjords tour at least 15 times and would jump at the chance to go again any time!  You'll more than likely see Killer Whales, Humpback Whales, Bald Eagles, Puffins, Cormorants, Oyster Catchers, Sea Lions, Sea Otters, Dall Sheep and Mountain Goats and, to go along with all of this, you'll get to spend time in front of Holgate glacier and listen to it pop and snap and crack like a pistol shot before finally a huge piece breaks off and plunges into the water in front of you!  Sound breathtaking?  It is!  There is no better way to spend a day.  Period.

The Alaska Sealife Center is a wonderful way to spend a few hours before or after your Kenai Fjords tour or a hike to Exit Glacier or a fishing trip with any one of the great fishing charter companies in town.
