Skagway: Although beautiful, Skagway's most exciting feature is her history! For a few short months over the winter of 1897-98 Skagway was one of the most exciting, wild, raucous boom towns in history. The headlines read "Gold in the Klondike!" and they came running. Depending on which account you read, anywhere from 25,000 to 40,000 men and women from every corner of the planet had to go through Skagway to get to those gold fields and it made for a wild and woolly time! Soapy Smith and men like him became legends at their ability to bilk or bully unsuspecting "Cheechako's" out of their money.
The White Pass and Yukon Railroad ride is truly a ride back in time and takes you right along the famed trail of '98. It is a terrific combination of scenery and history and we consider it a must-do!
Also, there is an opportunity to flightsee over Glacier Bay National Park from Skagway and if you get a clear day while you are there, please go!
Please stop in and say "Hi" from us at the Skagway Streetcar Tour. It's fun and there is no place where you'll get more or better information, not to mention a cup of Starbucks!
