Keep a day pack with you while walking around the ship or at ports. You might start the day with your long underwear, a shirt, sweatshirt and jacket but drop layers as it warms and add it again later. Also keep the following items in your pack.
hooded sweat shirt
rain coat and rain pants
hat, cap or ear covering
gloves
camera
binoculars
2-way radio for finding each other on ship
cell phones (there are times you can use them)
small purse/fanny pack
sunglasses & sunscreen
travel documents
passports
travel journal
Other Stuff:
make a copy of passports and keep separate from your passport
